Food Avenue

Cracking your head, don't know where to go to feed your stomach? Here's a new food gallery in town, the Food Avenue.

Food Avenue

Food Avenue is a newly open food gallery next to 4 1/2 th miles Everise Supermarket. With that, as long as Kuchian is concerned, there's the crowd flow to.

Apart from the unique design of the building, the signboard at the individual food stall is quite special as well. The signboards not only tell the visitors about food menu, but also show the photography of the hawkers or their food presentation.

Signboards of the food stalls

In terms of food selections, I can see there is a wide variety of food, from local delicacies, western food, penang food to taiwanese food and icy drinks.

Projected screen on the wall

There are also some familiar food stalls at Food Avenue, namely the Old Rex Prawn Cracker, the Burger Delight (correct? I only remember the logo is very similar to Burger King's logo), the Foo Chow food and Cha Kueh from Xin Wan at Jalan Song.

Pork Leg Rice, Rm5.00

For you who always have your breakfast at 3rd miles area, still remember there's an aunty selling mee siam at Chong Choon Cafe last time? I have not seen her for quite a while and I saw her selling mee siam again at Food Avenue. I missed the mee siam's gravy cooked by her.

Mee siam, RM4.00 (last time RM3.50 only >..<)

I don't know how about you, but I found some of the food here are a bit pricy, say about RM0.50 - RM1.00 more. Anyway, a lot of costs are hiking, what to do, right? (but ... but ... but ... my salary ler? =\)

Praw Cracker, RM0.70 each

In fact there's another dish that I ordered from Penang food stall - Salted Vege Mix Pork Soup (a.k.a kiam chai tu chap teng), which I didn't have the picture here. However, there's nothing to shout about and nothing to show about. I'm totally disappointed with the food served. That bowl of soup costs RM4.00 with only some salted vege, mostly minced meat balls and 3 biji meat balls, damn! The pork spare parts not too sure, I guess too small for me to spot it.

BBQ Rice, RM3.50

I do not know whether is their business too good that they are running out of ingredients, I'm not lucky enough, that's the Penang style, or, should they change the menu to Salted Vege Mince Meat Soup. I would rather go to eat the cheng near Bishop Gate.

Dazzling Christmas Trees In Singapore

Whisper: Why are the Christmas trees in Singapore all so high one?

Christmas tree is one of the popular traditions associated with the celebration of Christmas. It is normally put up few weeks before Christmas and taken down after the festival.

In terms of the materials, most people nowadays use artificial tree and decorate it with lights and colourful ornaments. A star can always be found at the top of the tree, so as to represent the star of Bethlehem.

Every year, there are special Christmas lights up in Singapore and millions of Christmas trees are put up for the celebration, particularly shopping district like Orchard Road and Marina Bay areas.

During my recent trip to Singapore, the Christmas lights up has just started. It is very fascinating and I couldn't help myself, rather appear to be very 'siaw' to capture every Christmas tree I saw. *___*

The most "WOWWWW! O.O" Christmas tree I have seen is the few storeys high Christmas tree in side Ngee Ann City building. I guess it must take a lot of effort to put up this Christmas tree.

Another Christmas tree that caught my attention is the rotating Christmas tree somewhere near Orchard Road.

VV's Curry House and Tomyam Seafood

As I said before, I'm not a fan of Indian food but this is another entry about Indian food. Kenopi's friend in Johor said want to bring us to taste a real Indian food, not the mamak type Indian food. After fetch us from Senai Airport, he brought us to this Indian food restaurant in Skudai – VV's Curry House and Tomyam Seafood.

He mentioned that VV's restaurant is very famous in town and even the Bollywood stars also came here to shot movie. O.o whooo~~

Variety of Indian dishes

As I don't really enjoy the food on-flight, so I'm 100% ready to taste Indian food again. Imagine you were eating the chicken meat which you can use it as 'mu yu'. Tok! Tok! Tok! How to eat? Erggghh....

There are various type of unknown dishes to us, so we just let Kenopi's friend to order the dishes. I guess he must very fancy about Indian food and he even brought a Indian cook book to explain to us.

The rice is served on banana leaf together with some side dishes and papadum. And, of course, I use spoon and fork to eat, bleekkkk!

Besides, there's a tray containing three different type of chutneys (I hope I name it correctly =P) where you can scoop onto your own plate and mix with your food.

Apart from the food, Kenopi's friend ordered some Indian drinks for us to try. He said is a must to try and this drink help to reduce heat, so des ~~~

'morais'

This is the first in my life time to take Indian drinks. I do not know the exact name for this drink, but it sounds something like 'morais'. If not mistaken, it's a mixture of chilli, curry leave, onion and sour milk.

Yeah, I'm ready!

Another must try food is the dosay, which is an Indian pancake. According to Kenopi's friend, the batter is made from wheat flour, blended with water and left to ferment. That's also why it taste a bit sour.

Dosay

After finish eating, we're told to fold the banana leaf as shown below. Don't fold the leaf to the other way wor, as it normally means something bad happen or funeral.

To conclude, not only this is really my first first first time to enjoy so much Indian food at one stop, it is also my first first first time to eat such a great and yummy Indian food. I particularly like the fried bittergourd, it's yummy! Big thank to Kenopi's friend!

Few months ago, I joined a lucky draw contest during the Circle of Armour event. And that has won me two complimentary Euro Friday Buffet Dinner at Crowne Plaza. =D

Lately, I went to redeem my gift certificate before it expired. Euro Friday Buffet Dinner is served at Cafe Majestic every Friday. As denoted by its name, there are a variety of specialities from across Europe and Western desserts. =)

As this meal is free, I do not want to comment much about the food, but I just want to say there's room to improve in their food. =\
